Dallas Beachboy Party {Buffett and Country Meet in Texas}

Saturday, May 29, 2004 Texas Stadium

With more than 120+ million records sold, over 80 Number One singles and countless awards under their hats (or Hawaiian shirt), the superstars shared  equal billing to showcase some of their biggest hits and fan favorites – alone and together. This historical concert extravaganza kicked off with Jackson, followed by Strait, Buffett and closed with an extraordinary finale of all three.

“The three of us have talked about doing this for some time,” admits Strait. “We’ve had the pleasure of working with each other before and not only do we enjoy each other’s music but we have a lot in common. Sharing the same stage will be a great time for us as well as the fans. The only draw back will be choosing which songs to do and which ones we have to leave off.”

Texas treasure, George Strait holds the career record for CMA nominations with seventy-one and the record for the most number one singles by a single artist in any genre of music. Strait and Jackson won the 2000 CMA Award for Vocal Event of the Year for “Murder on Music Row” and toured - together during the 2001 George Strait Country Music Festival.

Alan Jackson won CMA Vocal Collaboration of the Year for the eight-week #1 hit, 'It's Five O'clock Somewhere' with Jimmy Buffett.  Buffett and Jackson won “Vocal Event of The Year” at the 2003 Country Music Association Awards for their duet and were nominated for a 2004 Grammy Award.

In 2003, Singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett released Meet Me in Margaritaville: The Ultimate Collection. His newest CD, License to Chill includes cuts with both Strait and Jackson.

Following are links to photos of the Texas Stadium Concert, a link to Buffett's  "Hey Good Lookin" video (most of it from this concert, some from the recording sessions featuring George and other Country singers), and my review of the night.  It was a once in a lifetime party with three entertainers who know how to entertain and have fun doing it.

 My recommendation:   if they ever do this again - GO!
